I was a little frustrated with the instructions related to pre-surgery antibacterial washing....hopefully I didn't come across with too much dickishness (<-- Google is saying that is not a word, I disagree)
The Letter:
Hello McCaela,
Me again :-) I hope you had a great weekend....we are certainly getting closer to go time!
I had a few questions:
1) Can you please relay what I was supposed to do with the hibiclens?
from the pre-op letter:
"What is Hibiclens?
Hibiclens is an anti-bacterial soap that helps prevent surgical site infections."
My surgical site is my head....but they say not to use it on your head and per the warnings on the bottle it can cause blindness and deafness. I did the best I could, I shaved my head and applied with a sponge and wiped away with a different sponge rinsing that sponge with water several times.
2) I would like to request that Dr. Bi is the one that is removing the tumor and any margin. If she wants the residents to do some of the other parts of the process under her close supervision that is fine with me....but the actual removal of tumor and margin should be Dr. Bi.
3) Will there be documentation photos/videos during the procedure? I am really curious about everything and I would like to see them after I have some time to recover.
4) Is the whole tumor going to pathology? Can I keep any part of it or get it back from pathology when they are done with it? I know that is weird but I have to imagine it is not a totally unheard of request? I was also thinking that the process of testing the tumor may destroy it?
Thank you,
